Soil Scout Power Supply Guide

Welcome to the quick guide for the power supply that comes with your Soil Scout kit.

Power supply

The power supply comes with a universal main unit that can be used anywhere in the world with the four accompanying plug types (EUR, US, UK and AUS). The power supply is used to power a receiver unit (Base Station or Echo Repeater) when there is not enough solarpower to be harvested from the sun, either due to a shaded/indoor installation or because of winter period. DO NOT install the main unit outdoors without proper protection from the elements.

Select the correct plug based on your country and push it to the slot on the main unit until it clicks in place. Plug the mains end to a wall socket and connect the low voltage connector to the receiver that needs to be powered, twisting the locking ring on the connector clockwise to lock it in place.

Newer receiver units will indicate charging with a blinking light when the unit is turned off. Red for empty battery, green for a charged battery. Some older units will just light up a solid red light when plugged in, regardless of battery state. The earliest models will not indicate charging at all, but a powered up unit will report its input and battery voltages to the Hub when there is sufficient power to operate.

Charging the battery from empty to full takes roughly six hours. If the battery is completely depleted, for instance after a prolonged period of storage, the charging can take as long as 3-4 days.
