Soil Scout appoints Clint Payne in the United States

It is an exciting start to 2023 for Soil Scout, as we are pleased to announce the immediate appointment in the United States of Clint Payne to the role of Business Unit Director for the Americas. Clint will initially focus on building Soil Scout’s presence in North America. Working closely with current distributors, Clint will also be tasked with identifying new partners whilst also helping with developing global business partnerships.

Clint’s appointment followed an extensive and exhaustive recruitment process that identified his past experiences in the irrigation and golf sectors as leading factors in his suitability for this new role.

Clint has a BS in Agronomy from NC State as well as an MBA from Western Carolina University. He is an experienced sales and supply chain professional having previously held sales manager roles at Rivulis Irrigation, Hunter Industries and Triest Irrigation. Prior to moving to his sales career, Clint’s golf course maintenance journey started at Lochmere Golf Club, then the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and finally as an assistant superintendent at the Governors Club in Chapel Hill, NC.

Clint explains why he decided to accept this new appointment at Soil Scout, saying: “Soil Scout has several differentiators from which we can uniquely go to market. There are many paths to success with this industry leading technology. Business development has always been a passion of mine and has been the driving force in my career thus far. This is a great opportunity to grow the company in a significant way.”

He continued; “I am looking forward to meeting customers and showing them honesty and responsiveness. This mantra has served me well over my 19-year professional career.”

Commenting on the Soil Scout solution, Clint said: “Soil Scout is a differentiator in that it is the only solution that give continuous monitoring, wirelessly, for up to 20 years. You do not have to buy expensive wire, conduit, and it also mitigates lightning and rodent costs. Soil Scout is already proven on the largest turf venues in the world. This solution was founded in agriculture out of necessity, and I will be focussing on bringing it full circle back to it’s roots. I believe this solution will work well in nursery, greenhouse, and field crops.”

Soil Scout CEO Jalmari Talola commented on the appointment; “We are really excited to welcome Clint to the Soil Scout family. He joins us with an extensive background and his experience complements our team just perfectly.”

Jalmari continued: “As a former golf course superintendent and irrigation systems expert, Clint brings much-needed knowledge and an extensive existing network to the company. His long experience in sales and sales management in the US will accelerate our expansion in the US golf, sports and agricultural sectors.

“This is an exciting time for Soil Scout in the US, we are experiencing high volumes of enquiries from the region and with this appointment following quickly after the successful recruitment of Christian Walter we are showing a real commitment and desire to further establish Soil Scout in the United States.”

Clint is a family man, married with one son and a very keen amateur sportsman, he has a huge passion for playing golf. He also plays football and enjoys CrossFit workouts, racquet sports, kayaking, hiking and yard games. A final word from Clint; “Life is about experiences and having fun, I can’t wait to continue this journey with Soil Scout!”
